The course aims to provide a theoretical and analytical introduction to the grammatical, pragmatic and stylistic tools of Translational Stylistics, and to familiarise students with the linguistic features and translational issues of various literary and non-literary textual genres, ranging from novels, short stories and dramas, to TV series, newspaper articles and advertisements.

Essential Syllabus
The course aims to provide a theoretical and analytical introduction to the grammatical, pragmatic and stylistic tools of Translational Stylistics, and to familiarise students with the linguistic features and translational issues of various literary and non-literary textual genres, ranging from novels, short stories and dramas, to TV series, newspaper articles and advertisements.
Assessment
Students will be assessed after the course through a final assignment. The final assignment will consist in a written translation of a literary or non-literary text of about 500 words, which can be either chosen or made by the student, and which has to be introduced, annotated and examined using the tools of Translational Stylistics, i.e., textbooks 1-4 above (please hand in a copy to the lecturer one week before the oral exam).
